These compact, mature, spruce-smoked leaves from Fujian pack an astoundingly full aroma that can be smelled without even opening its packaging. Scents of charred spruce, pine, ash and cedar merge with aromas of burning campfires, charcoal embers, ashes and a sweet, woodsy undertone of pinesap. The color is golden and surprisingly light for such a full flavor and bouquet. Its aroma is true to the leaf, with an added complexity of delicate mineral tones. It has the smoky, ashen, full flavor of a smoldering campfire and a vaporous, smoky aftertaste. Wonderful as a base for a Russian tea blend, or added to a breakfast blend for a little complexity.
